Friends of the Apalachin Library

The Friends of the Apalachin Library was formed in 1962 as a nonprofit organization to support the
Library, literacy, and the community. Through their fundraising and Book Barn sales, they are able to
provide the Library with supplemental funding beyond the capacity of the general budget.

Here are just a few projects the Friends funded within the last year:

  •  Solar lights for the exterior street sign
  •  SmartBoard
  •  Postcards (and stamps) urging voters to votes YES for our referendum
  •  Subscription to BookPage, a discovery tool for readers that highlights the best new books across all genres
  •  Big Dipper gift certificates given to about 100 kids who earned extra credit during Summer Reading
  •  Shelving devices

The Friends meet at the library every other month (odd months) on the 3rd Monday at 4pm.

They are always looking for new members, great ideas, and people who share a love for the Apalachin
Library! Contact the Library at 625-3333 or just come to the next Friends Meeting for more information!
